How to set up actions to register incidents etc. through 2D/BIM/GIS view

Graphic view plays a big role in MainManager FM and it is likely that most users would like to have the option to create an incident in a simple way through this view, and even access data where possible.

Here are some instructions for Administrators how to set this up for a user role.

Normally incidents are created through the Helpdesk / service management process. Like most of MainManager Administrators are familiar with from prior version is that there are many possible types of incidents and check words are marked with the type we want them to appear in. MainManager FM is now supporting 6 types of incidents through Helpdesk and they are the following (Tag in parentheses):

  • Failures (Failure)
  • Issues (Complaint)
  • Order incidents (OrderIncident)
  • Purchase order incidents (PurchaseOrder)
  • Release items (ReleaseItem)
  • Cleaning tasks (CleaningTask)

Each of the above types can have its own window setup, list, filter etc. and has a specific step in the Helpdesk process.

Failure is the base type used in MainManager FM
For a user to be able to create an incident globally throughout system from 2D/BIM/GIS view, he must be in a user role that has Full access to Failure

Failure is the type that is shown in all other processes and modules apart from the Helpdesk process. This means that when a user creates an incident through 2D/BIM/GIS view and he is NOT placed in Helpdesk process, the failure window opens up, and Failure check words/ check word items appear. It also means that Failure is the type that is appearing in i.e. Operation and Maintenance process, Lease process etc.

For the other types the same applies regarding access management i.e. the user role must have Full access to be able to see an action on the graphical view to register an incident of that type. The only difference here is that these types can only be registered when the user is located in the respective module (incident type) in Helpdesk process.  The plus button appearing will show which type of incident you are about to create.

Right click inside graphic view through Helpdesk opens up the general option to register (Failure) and the respective type of an incident

There are more options that can be controlled for the user roles through the graphic view globally. Here is a short list of options for each view and what access must be set for them to appear:

  • Create Maintenance Incident - Full access to Maintenance Incident (2D/BIM/GIS)
  • Create Work order - Full access to Work order (2D/BIM/GIS)
  • Create Task - Full access to Task planning (2D/BIM/GIS)
  • Open building space - Any access to Building space (2D only)

+ some actions that are always open for BIM view and are not access controlled (Add clipping plane, Clear clipping planes, Show all, Show selected, Make selected translucent, Make others translucent, Hide selected, Hide others)

Example from a user that has access to create and view data through graphical view (2D)
