General info on windows

Windows are different from one module to another, but there are some things that are homogeneous throughout them all and will be described here.

The fields in the window are generally grouped together in something called group boxes. The group boxes are various from one module to another and within a group box there are numerous fields containing diverse information. This information could be i.e. text fields, numbers, drop down lists, dates, checkbox etc. and it might be data that the user has to enter this information but in other cases it could be that some information is determined in advance.

A window opens when the user wants to add a new record to a module or when he opens up an existing line to edit/view. Window buttons can be recognized by the green color and being at the front of the list or as a plus button above the list.

At the top, general information about the record and its history are shown.

In the upper right corner of the window there are normally two buttons - a question mark to access documentation and an "x" to close the window (without saving).

Required fillout

Required field

When this icon appears above a field, it is required to be filled out correctly. If the user tries to save the registration without filling it out, a message will appear indicating that the user must complete the registration.

Registration options

Options when saving

When the record / registration is to be added / changed, there are more options for saving the record than just saving and closing. By pressing the arrow next to the Save button, the following options are displayed:

Save and new registration

This button is extremely useful when it comes to creating multiple records. When this option is selected, the record is added but the window remains open, ready for a new registration. Information from the prior registration will remain, apart from the title and description that will be cleared.

Save and continue

This button is useful if the user wants to add extra information immediately. Some information cannot be added until the record has been created. When this option is selected the window remains open and additional data or sub data may be added depending on the module you are working with.

Save and close

This option adds the record / changes it and then closes the window. This is the default choice.

Sub data

For records that are already registered, sub data can often be found i.e. documents, incidents (on work orders), building spaces (on floors), etc. This sub data can be retrieved by pressing it on the right side.

Views

In some cases, the window may show more than one view to choose from on the right side. View is just like another page of the registration window and may contain some detailed information to register/edit.

Templates

Template in a window makes it easier to register e.g. several records in a row in a module. On the right side of the window, the user can select one that has already been created (if anything exists), create a new template or delete previously used templates.

Templates saved in WO window

It is possible to save a template for the choices and registration in the fields by pressing Add new. Private template can be saved (only the user can view and select it) or Global (all users with access to this module can view and select it).

If the user selects a template that already exists, the window will automatically fill out the fields from the template.

To delete a template, the user taps on the trash can next to the one he wants to delete.

History

At the bottom of each window, a Show button is displayed to see all the history of the selected record. If it is pressed a history log appears below.
